A joy to any day, painting the feeling of spring, from a bunch of flowers picked up in the supermarket- simple inspiration.
I was captivated by this image at Barnes railway station on a very long journey back to Devon from visiting friends in Richmond. The contrast of the rainbow umbrella, in the pouring rain against the monocolours of the rail tracks and station on a gloomy Sunday Autumn afternoon, provided the inspiration for this picture.

An image created from the view from my studio overlooking the river combined with one from Bridgend, the furthest reach of our branch of the Yealm. Despite the pouring rain and muddy river, I cheered myself by painting it with memories of the summer colours.

Created after a relaxing, creative holiday with my “art friends”, staying on the northern coast of Brittany. A rocky estuary across the English Channel from our home in Devon, The colours of the rocks were a subtle change from our Devon granite.

This simple painting is an impression of the awe inspiring view of a glacier and icebergs in Southern Patagonia. A true wonder of the world , that I was fortunate to visit in October 2017. I was tempted and advised to add more detail to this picture, but that would have betrayed the feeling of simple grandeur.
