Dramatic clouds over the entrance to Salcombe Harbour on a winter afternoon. Painted with watercolour in a loose style
The breathtaking sandy shore of Mothecombe beach on the esturary of the Erme is a frequent haunt of my dog and myself.
Inspired by my usual cliff walk from Noss Mayo, capturing the dramatic cliffs using lovely turquoise hues.
An impression of a beautiful Brittany estuary - painted in subtle hues.
I commenced this painting on the beach on a tidal estuary in Brittany, whilst on an painting holiday with a couple of my local artist friends, in September 2018. My frustration of getting sand in my paint soon vanished as I enjoyed the texture that it was giving the image. It also meant that it really was a Brittany painting, incorporating the landscape in more than one form!
Based on force of tidal races depicted in glorious blues.
This painting is my attempt to capture the force of the water ,as it rushes into a Ria estuary. The power of the water is awe inspiring but can also remind you of the frailty of humans compared to nature.
A mixed media work.
A joy to any day, painting the feeling of spring, from a bunch of flowers picked up in the supermarket- simple inspiration.
This flower appeared in the hedgerow next to the river – seemingly against all odds, in the chilly winter. I painted this image whilst “confined to barracks’ during our snowy week in the South Hams.
